Doing schema.org by hand is slow, painful and outdated the moment you finish it. So we built Schema Manager, a free Contao extension that keeps your structured data in one central place. Here's what it does, where it stops, and how to install it.

Why did we build Schema Manager?

Hand-written schema markup has a nasty habit: it's outdated the moment you create it. Prices change, people leave, pages move. Once your site grows into a bigger knowledge tree with services, authors, posts and several languages, nobody can keep track of what points where. We got tired of doing it by hand.

What does Schema Manager do?

  • Central entities and relations
Your organisation, people, services and events live in one list, linked to each other.
  • One permanent ID per thing
The same ID across all languages, even when URLs change.
  • Pages, news and events connected
You link them to entities right where you edit them.
  • A relationship map
See the whole network and spot unconnected entities.
  • A saved JSON-LD preview
Check what your site outputs before a bot does.

What are the limits?

You maintain prices by hand, the extension doesn't remove old hand-written markup, and we promise no rankings or AI citations: the evidence is thin, as our article on schema markup explains.

How do you install Schema Manager?

Use the Contao Manager or run composer require vonheldenundgestalten/contao-schema-manager (Contao 5.7+, PHP 8.3+, MIT licence). You'll find it on Packagist and in the Contao Extension Store.

Features, screenshots and FAQ are on the extension page.
